Contradictions of Freedom

  • Lexington Arts & Crafts Society 130 Waltham Street Lexington, MA, 02421 United States (map)

This exhibit features artists from Sisters in Stitches Joined by the Cloth, New England's only quilt guild dedicated to preserving the art, history, culture, and traditions of African American quilt making.

"Contradictions of Freedom" acknowledges the roles of BIPOC peoples in our nation’s history, that have not been celebrated and historically acknowledged in our school’s American history curriculum. These women artists are deeply rooted in the very fibers of American History with ancestral ties dating back to the lead up to the American Revolution.
