The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction: Visual Artists Re-envision the Container

  • Nave Gallery 155 Powder House Boulevard Somerville, MA, 02144 United States (map)

An exhibition of fiber work in response to Ursula Le Guin’s Carrier Bag of Fiction (or Art) essay. The theory suggests that the first tool may not have been a sharp and pointy aggressive implement but instead a useful vessel for carrying berries, potatoes or babies. Come see how fiber artists in this exhibition explore the concept of the “vessel.”

Opening reception and artist talk: April 11, 2025; 6 pm- 9 pm
Gallery hours: Saturdays and Sundays, 1 pm - 5 pm
