Paying Homage to Harriet Powers: Revolutionary Quilter - Opening Reception

The fiber artists of Princeton Sankofa Stitchers Modern Quilt Guild have honored the legacy of Black quilter and folk artist Harriet Powers (1837 to 1910) by faithfully recreating Powers' "Pictorial Quilt" in a modern context, using their own vibrant fabrics and contemporary sensibilities. Meet fiber artists Mada Coles Galloway, Lesyslie Rackard & Tarsha-Nicole Taylor; they will be present to talk about their techniques and their inspiration, and see all 13 blocks at a 3-day exhibit presented by ArtsArlington and hosted by Mystic Open Studios.

Opening Reception: Saturday, April 19, 6:00 pm-8:00 pm
Exhibition Hours: Friday, April 18, 2:00 pm- to 5:00 pm; Saturday, April 19, 11:00 am-4:00 pm
Stitching Bee: Friday, April 18, 2:00 pm- to 5:00 pm; $10 registration for Stitching Bee with guest artists
